ABOUT GIA

faith. family. friendships.

Faith, family, and friendships are what is important to me. I feel that I have been given a life of many great opportunities, and it's my job to show gratitude by helping others.  Currently, I volunteer for Angel Horses in Billings,MT. This is a nonprofit organization that does equine therapy for mostly children and elderly adults with emotional or physical disabilities.

Along with volunteering, I help my family by babysitting my younger siblings. Until 2014, my mother was a single parent and I was her only child. Today, I have a wonderful step father, two younger step brothers, and a baby sister. I enjoy my new role in life. They have helped me realize that I am not only a good care taker, but also a pretty good role model. At 16 almost 17 years old, I have never drank alcohol or done any type of drug abuse. (Part of this is because my mom promised me a Jeep at graduation if I got through high school without any alcohol or drug consumption). I have always had a 3.5 or higher GPA and I have never been in any type of trouble with the law or in school. (That's a lie, I just had detention recently.) I'm not saying that I am perfect, but I try my best to be my best to work hard and treat others well.

Currently, I am enrolled at Billings Senior High School and go part time at the Career Center.  I love my classes, even though I am in honors classes and they are challenging. I appreciate my teachers, especially my biomed teacher. She inspires me to peruse my career goal of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. I also enjoy my coaches and love track season.

Outside of school, I enjoy flying airplanes with my dad. I am a fifth generation Montanan and will be the fifth generation in my family to have a pilot's license and own my own planes. He is part of the reason why I love Montana History. His dad owned vintage airplanes and was a tanker pilot. Grandpa Denny flew the planes in the movie "Always". I grew up watching this movie, spending time at the airport, and spending time with my aunt who is also a pilot. In 2013, she won the Amelia Earhart award. She is one of my role models.

I am hoping that my interest in this pageant will help me in my quest for academic scholarships. My goal is to attend Rocky Mountain College. I am also hoping that competing in this will challenge me to work in my public speaking skills. I am excited for all of the self confidence and other esteem building workshops and groups that we will attend.

If I win Miss Montana USA (teen) I promise to be a great role model for younger girls. I will do this by holding up my high moral code of taking care of myself physically, mentally, and spiritually. I won't compare myself or talk badly about my competition. But instead, I will demonstrate that we are stronger together than separate.
